Summerville Attorney Cook Buys Former Armas Properties On Broad Street

Famed Summerville lawyer Bobby Lee Cook is now a Broad Street property owner. Cook confirmed today that he had purchased the property at 510 and 512 Broad Street at auction Friday.
Cook said he did not have any dramatic plans for the property and said if Harbin Clinic and Victorian Rose Tea Room wanted to stay in the buildings they could.
“I had a few bucks and it seemed to be a good investment in these difficult times,” said Cook.

Rome Native Appointed To Warden At Hays State Prison

Atlanta– Commissioner Brian Owens announced the appointment of Rick Jacobs as Warden of Hays State Prison effective January 1, 2010. The facility is located in Trion, Georgia, and houses approximately 1,675 close security inmates.

“Rick Jacobs has worked his way through the ranks since joining the Department in 1992,” said Commissioner Owens. “He has done a great job with every task that has been assigned to him, and I know he will be a great leader to the staff at Hays State Prison.”

In 1992, he joined the Georgia Department of Corrections as a probation officer. Since then, he has held positions to include Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, Warden, and Director of Special Operations. Warden Jacobs’ most recent assignment was Macon State Prison.

Rick Jacobs is a native of Rome, Georgia. He has an Associate’s Degree from Floyd Jr. College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University. He is a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College and serves as an adjunct professor in Criminal Justice and Management at Columbus State University.

The Department of Corrections is the fourth largest prison system in the United States and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and over 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 14,000 employees.
